ALBUM PREMIERE & LAUNCH EVENTS

This year marks ten years of the Irish Sound, Science and Technology Association. Over the past decade, ISSTA has hosted conferences and concerts across the island of Ireland and online. This July, ISSTA launches anthology compilation Tides: An ISSTA Anthology with an online party and a livestream premiere:

Fri 23 July 6-9pm: Livestream Premiere of Tides: An ISSTA Anthology on YouTube

Sat 24 July 6-8pm: Online Launch Party featuring discussions with featured artists on Zoom.

TIDES: AN ISSTA ANTHOLOGY

Tides: An ISSTA Anthology captures important works by 24 artists who have featured at ISSTA events over the past ten years. This represents a cross-section of a rich history of activity in electronic and acousmatic music, soundscape composition, live performances, and sound installations.

The album will be available on Bandcamp on the Stolen Mirror record label, and will be featured on SARC Radio later this Summer.

The booklet accompanying the release is available here.

10 YEARS OF ISSTA

Since its foundation at the University of Limerick by Dr Kerry Hagan, ISSTA has hosted conferences and festivals featuring papers, concerts, workshops, and installations. ISSTA represents a diverse community of musicians, researchers, technologists, makers, and artists, within Ireland and beyond. Its goal is the transdisciplinary promotion of research and creativity in sound.

“ISSTA has partnered with universities and institutions throughout Ireland to create convivial gatherings for our communities, and now we partner with Stolen Mirror to offer an audible glimpse into some of the work presented at those gatherings. As we reflect on the past ten years through this release, we begin to imagine what the next ten years might look and sound like, and how we can continue to support our creative communities.”

– Dr Jenn Kirby, ISSTA President.

“ISSTA was one of the first organisations in Ireland that connected those of us working in sound from across all spectrums of research and creative practice. It brought attention to what was happening in Ireland by bringing international speakers and artists to the community, for our annual events, and opened up a space for new networks and collaborations to emerge. It was so important for me to be part of this group while doing my PhD, which is normally a very solitary experience.”

– Dr Linda O’Keeffe, Head of the School of Fine Art, Edinburgh College of Art Edinburgh University.

“At ISSTA I have consistently experienced extraordinary work from thoughtful artists and scholars who are open to unique perspectives on sound and music, and who are enthusiastic about sharing and engaging with the community.”

– John C.S. Keston, composer, sound artist, and creative coder.
