I first became interested in music and sound through experiments with hand-me-down analogue synthesizers and tape machines, then studied music and music/media tech at UCD, Maynooth and Trinity. My own practice is centred on microtonal and spatial music and sound installations; I'm also interested in the use of models from embodied cognition in the design of music performance systems. I'm currently Lecturer (Creative Technologies and Music) at Ulster University, Magee campus in Derry (where we'll be hosting ISSTA 2016). Apart from ISSTA, I'm also involved with the online journal Interference: a Journal of Audio Culture and the Spatial Music Collective.
I'm feeling excited in the run-up to the publication of the call and further details for ISSTA 2016 in Derry! The theme is 'Temporary Autonomous Zones'. More details soon!
